I recommend becoming informed on Azure tables before you do any serious development.  They are truly unlike SQL server or RDMS in general.  I compare them more to Excel than to a database.  That is not bad - just different.

In my opinion Azure tables are very powerful.  You must however understand your data and more importantly how it will be used.  With total understanding then you can develop an application that can be much less expensive to operate with very adequate response times.

The first document you should (must) absorb is the Azure Table Storage whitepaper: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=153401

Next you should add Jim Nakashima's blog to your favorites list: http://blogs.msdn.com/jnak/default.aspx

I also recomment the Azure feed: http://azurefeeds.com/Default.aspx
and specifically: http://azurefeeds.com/post/868/Walkthrough_Windows_Azure_Table_Storage_Nov_2009_and_later.aspx

Then this link is by one of the Azure team members with resources aplenty: http://www.sriramkrishnan.com/blog/2008/11/windows-azure-links-and-resources.html

Finally Bing anything you can find written by Brad Calder - Microsoft Director/Architect of Azure storage.  Read every word then read it again.
